Building a secure and future-ready network to support digital municipal services
Avit has been awarded the tender to renew the network infrastructure of the Municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân. The five-year framework agreement includes the replacement of active network components, with an option to extend for up to two additional years.
As the largest municipality in the Netherlands by area—with over 90,000 residents across six cities and 83 villages—Súdwest-Fryslân requires a robust and scalable network to ensure reliable public services.
The modernization includes wired and wireless infrastructure, a private fiber ring connecting all locations, and a data center upgrade.
Avit will deliver Cisco-based switches, routers, and Wi-Fi controllers, providing both technical advice and manufacturer support.
The new network supports compliance with the EU’s NIS2 Cybersecurity Directive and enhances efficiency, reliability, and innovation across municipal operations.
By implementing Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Software Defined Access (SDA), the municipality gains flexibility and scalability for future digital growth.
This project ensures that Súdwest-Fryslân remains well-prepared to deliver secure, efficient, and connected services to its residents and businesses.
